Week 64 - Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day Mom! It was so good talking to everyone today! I’m really excited to finish up here. The last three months of my mission is going to be the three best months of my mission. Now that I’m near the end , time is going to fly by but in the best way. :) I can’t wait to throw my self into everything. I started learning characters, and reading out of the Book of Mormon in Chinese. It is something I have avoided my whole mission, but I started on Tuesday and memorized about 100 characters already. I can’t wait to be living the dream. Thanks for the advice. You can get ready for the next set of emails. They are going to be awesome!

I talked to my companion about going to Japan with her when she gets home. I am seriously soo soo excited to go to Japan with Liang JM! She is so much fun and she has lots of money and loves to SHOP! ha

I love you Mom! Thanks for being such a great example to me, about how to keep it real, all the while knowing how this gospel works in your life. You are my best friend, and I cant wait to come home and talk to you in the front room snacking on popcorn in our pjs till 2 am talking about all the hilarious, sad, scary and crazy good times from my mission.

I Love you Mom!!

Week 63

She was an hour late for her baptism, but everyone waited for her. It was still a perfect night.
We had a the baptism scheduled for 7. Fruit was cut, cake was iced, and the primary was all there for the musical number. We had a little 8yr girl getting baptized at the same service and so when 7:20 came around and Sara still hadn't shown up we started with out her. The whole baptism went super smooth, and right as the bishopric member was saying his closing remarks Sara called. She asked what was wrong because she noticed we had called so many times. We just asked if she was coming to her baptism and she said that she was just around the corner.
She came in totally bummed, and as she started crying. She went to the bathroom to change and broke down. "This is the biggest night of my life, and I screwed it up. God is so sad that I messed up my baptism night." It was so cute, and sad to see her so sad for thinking she screwed everything up.
We told everyone that she was here, and they waited for her to get changed. The baptism went super smooth, and after she was baptized in her testimony she said that she totally forgot how sad she had just been. She bore her testimony that she was Gods daugther, and that she knew this church was true. She said that as she has been investigating the church she found her child within and that she knew that through the power of the atonement she was able to feel so happy again. It was a great night.
She was a self contact when I was serving with Sister Hancok. She dissapeard for about a month, but a couple weeks ago she came to church, and and been to church ever since for 5 weeks. She is so great. We are such good friends, and I feel so lucky to have seen her grow and change its so inspiring. :) She was originally supposed to get baptized in a couple weeks, but she was too busy and so she surprised us and asked us if she could get baptized this week.
It such an amazing experience beign a missionary. You learn and grow in such uncomfortable ways, but its all so worth it because you get to see miracles like Sara everyday.
I love you!

Week 62

Yesterday my companion and I were walking around at the park. It was late, and it had just stopped raining. Not very many people were outside, and so we had decided to go back to the church. We noticed a girl opposite from us exercising and we said hello to her. She stopped. We started talking to her, and found out that she was a member but hadn’t gone to church in years. She didn’t have any friends at church anymore, and the missionaries that she was good friends with had gone home. I could tell that she was embarrassed to be talking to us and that she hadn’t been to church in a while. It was so good talking to her. We prayed with her and invited her to come to an activity with us next week. She agreed and she gave us her phone number. You never know what people are going through in their lives and what a simple act of reaching out can do. It was so cool that we were able to talk to her yesterday. I like being a missionary because of miracle moments like these. They happen everyday.

I love you guys. Have a great week. xo

Week 61

I have owed my family a mass email for about a couple move calls now. ha

Weeks highlights:

We met with a former investigator this week that has come back ready to get baptized. For real! She was a self-contact a couple of weeks ago, and came to the office looking for some peace and happiness in her life. She brought a friend to chruch this week, as well as some hair product for my hair. ha She works at a hair salon so she thinks of nice gifts like that. She really likes prophets, and it’s exciting to see her countenance dramatically change from lame to happy.

Every Friday morning at 7:45 we skype with the Taipei mission. We are working with them to create a new family history pass along card. It’s been fun drawing up cards, and writing vision statements. The Mission presidents are approving it today so hopefully they like it.

Yang Didi (my little friend that got baptized) played catch with us in the church parking lot, and it was a blast. I still haven’t given you guys pictures, but he is so fat and oh so cute. Another recent convert went and got ice cream sundays with us and afterwards we relaxed and enjoyed each others company. We are working on Yang Didi's Mom.... Forever Families!!

The ward is struggling, but it’s a good thing we have three super duper companionships assigned to the ward. ha Hopefully things start turning around.

On Friday night we were contacting and we prayed to find a good referral worth giving away. We walked around forever hoping to bump into somebody, and at the very end of the night we spotted a girl on her scooter over by the hospital. She didn’t have any religion, and was looking for purpose in her life. Didn’t live in our area. So we said a prayer with her, and sent her information to the neighboring city. I learned on my mission that God really does answer our prayers.

xo
i love you guys,

This chruch is true.

Week 60

 Sister Liang

Hi Mom... It is really good to hear from you.

I feel so bad about not sending home good emails. The family only knows 1/16 of what really happens. Ha I will just tell everyone stories when I get home.

My new companion is great. She is Sis Liu’s best friend and so we get along great. We don’t have any investigators that are looking to get baptized right now and so it will be fun finding and people together. The ward mission leaders girl friend is her trainer and so everyday he is calling us and fellowshipping us. ha (that sounds weird in English) Anyways... yeah she is great and its going to be a great move call.

That is so so cool about Asako!! I wrote her an email and I am really excited to hear back from her. :) It’s going to be so fun when she comes to visit.

We had a baptism this week. His name is Yang Didi. He is 10 years old and is like an old man in a little body. He is like a Taiwanese Joseph Smith. His baptism went so smooth and he gave the most adorable little testimony. We are now teaching his mom and working on an eternal family. I’ll send pictures.

I love you guys so much and miss you all. Have a great week. Mom I can’t wait to talk to you on Mother’s Day. :)

Week 59 - Happy Easter!

Don't we look Pretty!!
Hi Everyone,

We got to watch conference this weekend. It was really great. We also planned an activity for the ward. We had a little lunch right in between the sessions on Sunday and it was a hit. We had 60 members, 9 investigators, 15 recent converts and 5 less actives come. We were thrilled. We defiantly know how to get our party on. J

For the last three days I have been in a three-some because a sisters old companion was training and so she came with us. It sounds fun, but I was so bummed because it was the last three days I had with Sis Hancock and it was different with Sis King. It ended up being ok, but it was just a weird end to a move call.

I am already a little home sick. Being with Sis Hancock was like being on vacation. It was really good though. We worked hard…I needed a little break after being with my other companion. Once I’m with my new companion I will be all focused again. (Its not like I am unfocused? But anyway, I only have three move calls left, and then I am home.

Thanks for the AWESOME package I loved it! All week I hid Easter Eggs around the house, and my companion had fun finding them. :)

P.S. Sister Hancock has all the pictures we took with our Easter Baskets. Bummer! I will have her send you some.

I love you all tons! Happy Easter!
